To get a higher salary as the primary criterion for choosing a major is ludicrous. You must do something far more fundamental, something I require all of my college-bound students to do: get an assessment of your interests, needs, and environments in which you are more effective and productive.

The primary reason for choosing a college is the curriculum offered. There has to be a fit, or it could wind up being a disasterous experience.
I’ve counseled families for the past 29 years, and for undecided students, I have them make a list of what careers they would not want to pursue and see what’s left. That’s the direction they should follow.
