Joseph A McLinden Divers Scholarship
Navy Marine Corps Relief Society is a private non-profit charitable organization and its main aim is to serve the members of the National Services of The United States, eligible family members and survivors by providing financial, educational and other assistance.
Through its scholarships no-interests loans the organization has helped several students who are in financial need. The Joseph A McLinden Divers Scholarship is a need based scholarship for study or research in ocean agriculture.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be certified Navy or Marine Corps diver on active duty or retired
- An unmarried child of an active duty or retired Navy or Marine Corps diver
- The spouse of a Navy or Marine Corps diver on active duty or retired
- Must be full time undergraduate or graduate student in a traditional class room setting at a post-secondary, technical or vocational institution in a program of study in Oceanography, Ocean Agriculture or Aquaculture.
- The school where the applicant is enrolled must be approved to participate in the U.S Department Of Education’s Federal Grant and loan programs
- Must have advanced diver training, certifications and recertifications.
The scholarship amount ranges from $ 500 to $ 3000 for the eligible students. Along with the application the candidate needs to submit:
- For an active duty applicant or child or spouse of activity must submit-certificate of service letter as Navy or Marine Corps Diver signed by Commanding Officer and containing the active duty end of service data (EOS)
- Child or spouse of the retired service member must submit: Copy of DD214, or other proof of status as a diver and Spouse and child eligibility will be determined from DEERS.
